Man of the match D. Smith.

Another impressive result for the mighty whites ot the Waterloo thirds as we keep our momentum going. This was our fourth straight win which must give us a shout at team of the month.Waterloo couldn,t have started the game any better,in scoring in one of the first attacks they put together. There was confusion between the Bootle defenders and keeper,to which Crosbie capitilised and grabbed his first goal of the season. After the restart Waterloo kept up the pressure but found their goalkeeper to be in inspired form repelling chance after chance.Bootle themselves looked dangerous at times on the counter attack with a couple of lively forwards. The defence had to be alert at all times as any lapse of concentration would definitely have been punished.Currie and Cooper repelled the danger with Currie especially in commanding form.He went on to score the Waterloo second after a corner was only half cleared, pouncing on to the loose ball and firing it home from 10 yards.Bootle had a great chance late in the half when their forward broke away down the right and fired a shot in low to the keepers right, but Cowley tipped a magnificent save around the post, much to their teams dismay as the ref pointed for a goal kick. Half time 2-0.

After the restart Waterloo stepped up their game and increased the tempo.Tighe and Clarke on the flanks were getting the better of their markers and were providing some great c rosses into the box.unfortunately no one could convert these opportunities. The third goal wasn,t long coming though when Freeman with a bit of trickery on the right ,squared for the grateful Crosbie to tap in from 6 yards.Freeman himself bagged another to make it 4. Game over! MY ARSE!!!!!!!

Captain Halpin made 3 quick substitutions, replacing Crosbie for Fairclough, R.Tighe for C.Tighe and himself for Mather. This unbalanced the team more than anyone could have imagined and Bootle sensed this immediately. They pressured the Waterloo goal for a 20 minute spell grabbing 3 goal in the process. The first was from a corner which in fairness we looked vunerable all afternoon fom these set pieces. The second was a bit of a gift but the lad took it in style pinging a rushed clearance from Cowley straight back over his head. This was unfortunate as Cowley had had a neat and tidy game doing everything right in his decision making. The third was a gift from the ref who perfectely sighted decided to turn a blind eye to a blatantly offside opponent. The captains nerves were now well and truly shredded on the touchline as all blame would have and deservedly so,fell at his feet.

All credit to the lads they settled it down and could have had a few goals themselves.Only a fine save from the keeper denied Fairclough 2 in 2 after he left his marker standing. All in all a good performance which on another day could have been double figures.Everybody was happy with the 3 points but less of the drama in future.Man of the match was a close call between Currie an Smith but Davie just shaded it with an accomplished all round midfield display. Well done!
