Mike Mawdsley

Date/Place of Birth: 12/03/1973, Southport
Starsign: Pisces
Married: Next question!
Children: Well, the CSA haven't come knocking, so no!
Pets: None
Car: A silver dream machine!
Occupation: Business Analyst
Teams Played For: Apart from Waterloo GSOB - Southport YMCA, Southport Trinity, Swan Athletic, Scarisbrick Hotel and The Bug.
Debut For WGSOB: Scored on my debut in a 5-4 thriller at Alsop in September 1990 for a second team that included Paul Jackson, Dave Murray, Chris Stubbs, Colin Auton and was captained by our very own Don Corleone, Eddie 'God Bless' Jones!
Favourite WGSOB Moment: How long have you got!!?? Scoring on my debut, the privledge of doing the captaincy, winning 1st Team Player of the Year.
On the pitch, I've played in that many games, it's difficult to define a 'favourite' moment but I guess the one that always sticks out in my mind was our 2-1 win against De La Salle about three seasons ago when H.Burglar managed to wipe out the whole electricity supply to Maghull and surrounding areas in the pre-match warm-up!! We then proceeded to beat them in a closely fought encounter. It was worth it just to see the totally deflated look on each one of their orange, Boss Tan faces!! Horrible shower!
Worst WGSOB Moment: A 10-nil drubbing stands out in the early 90's - NOT the greatest feeling walking off the pitch!
Any fixture during Mark Moore's reign as captain because we never actually managed to win one!
Semi-final defeats - of which there have been many!!
Missing the 2nd's Cup Final two seasons ago through injury.
Worst moments though are just having to miss any game full-stop through whatever reason, particularly injury.
Favourite All Time WGSOB Player(s): I've had the privilege of playing in the white, black and red with so many legends but I'd probably say John Sloan was as good as anybody in both a playing capacity and as a captain.
Graham Sweeney was also very influential in trying to get the best out of me (he's STILL trying!)
Team(s) Supported: Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan
Favourite Boots: Probably the original Adidas 'Predator'
Favourite Professional Player(s): Chris Waddle and Paolo Maldini. Also think John Terry is a top player
Favourite Holiday Destination: Lake Garda in Italy
Favourite Food: Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Dopiaza and Italian cuisine
Favourite Drink: Diet Coke
Last Album You Bought/Downloaded: 'Beautiful World' by Take That. A truly stunning lyrical masterpiece.
Favourite Musical Artist: George Michael, Def Leppard, Michael McDonald, that kind of quality stuff!
Favourite Movie: Good Fellas
Favourite Actor/Actress: Actually think Brad Pitt is a very good actor and Julianne Moore
General Like/Dislikes: Likes - Wednesday nights, Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings; Golf; any good autobiography.
Dislikes - Reality TV, their contestants and the whole world of 'celebrity' in general; pretentiousness; people who lack respect, particularly towards the elderly; the 'hoodie' culture'.
5 Guests For Dinner: George Michael for the musical accompaniment (although the £1.7 million he got paid on New Year's Eve 2006 may slightly be out of my price range!), Ronnie Barker, Harry Redknapp, David Attenborough and finally, Elle McPherson for dessert!
Who/What Gets Your Goat: Bad manners are the ULTIMATE sin - it doesn't cost a penny to be polite; people who have a superiority complex (knob jockeys!)
Best Piece Of Advice Given: "You don't measure your wealth in pounds, shillings and pence. You measure it by who you have as your mates." as quoted by the worldly-wise Davie Johnson.
That, and "GET RID" by any of the aforementioned Mark Moore team!
